Redang 2011

Weeks after weeks, i've been procrastinating in penning down this post. And i reckon if I did not push myself to do it now, this post might never get to see daylight.

It's already Oct now gosh..and i'm blogging something that took place 2 months ago

We made a wise choice by flying to Redang direct via Berjaya Air. Else, we'd have to spend at least 12hrs on a coach, follow by ferry transfer which will definitely make me puke like mad.

Flying there only took us 2 hrs. Following by a 10 mins ferry ride. Timeeee is essssence!

I researched about the rooms before booking. Many travelers commented that while seaview room faces the beautiful beach and all, it is damn noisy when it comes to night time. The beach pub will not stop blasting the music till wee hours into the night. So I took pool view room instead!

Super pleased. I love the pool view!

Cost about 800 bucks for air tix + 5D4N accomodation + all buffet meals + free snorkels daily. I thought it was pretty reasonable!

The weather was good throughout the trip except for one of the morning. We didnt get to snorkel because of the heavy rain :(

The highlight of the trip has to be DIVING! Both of us successfully gotten our Open Water Diver License in the resort dive centre, and it's certified by PADI.

Took us 3 consecutive days!

Upon landing, we went straight to the dive centre to register. Our instructore Robyn, gave us a DVD player with course CD, and a course book each. We were to study at least 3 chapters! There will be a theory test at the end of the session.

So both of us diligently go through the CD and the book at night. My 1st time studying during holiday lols.

Next day, we had our safety drills in the shallow beach waters. Robyn taught us all the hand signals, what to do when we run out of air, practice taking off our BCDs in the water, clear water in our masks etc.

Felt apprehensive at first. But it gets more fun as we practiced!

Day 3 & 4 were dive days! We did 5 dives in total, and the feeling was superb awesome!!!

It felt really amazing to be swimming next to a huge school of fishes, to see with my own eyes how playful clownfishes (nemos) are and to wave hysterically at a baby shark only for it to swim away.

The underwater is so beautiful! ♥♥♥

The only thing i dread about going out for a dive is to climb up the ladder to the boat after each dive. The whole equipment plus the weight belt is disgustingly heavy after i lift myself off waters. I can't even stand straight!

Even though our movement inside waters were relatively slow and constant, I felt damn drain and hungry after every dive. It's like i can eat a dinosaur! Thankfully all our meals are buffet style heh!

And of course, at the end of the course, we passed our theory test and are certified divers!

When we are not eating and diving, we explore the island. Redang island is really small and you could see the other end other beach easily.

Surprisely, there were more PRCs than Ang moh on the island. These PRCs are so irritating everywhere they go.

They talked damn loud, refused to que during dinner buffets and take dumb pictures.

Get what i mean???

More more tea inn is the souvenir shop cum convenience stall. They preserved the structure even after so many years since the sammi cheng movie.

Most of our break time were spent lazing beside the pool actually. I will hide under the big brolly, read my book and eventually doze off.

Wr will go all out under the sun, listen to mp3 and slp, hoping that he will bake under the heat. Haha but after 5 days he's still the same tone!

Since all the meals are catered for, our moolah were spent on ice creams, water, underwater camera rental, and massage! The full body massage was heavenly. The masseurs were well trained and attempted to relieve wr's tense muscles. He screamed like mad and scare the hell out of the patrons.

By the end of 5th day, we were so sick of buffet and paid for cze char instead. Yummyyyyyy!

We hurriedly took a pic with our diving instructor before leaving the island. I remember feeling quite blue on the ferry back.

I miss the island so much.

Our next planned diving trip will be to obtain advanced open water diver! Cant wait to get back down into the blue again!
