Hello world. I've decided to get out of my lazy shell and blog about my Penang trip. All of us had tremendous fun, i believe, cuz we managed to achieve something! The ladies' very first bronze medal and mixed team very first silver medal! =)
The bus journey there wasn't as horrendous as i expected it to be. Although it was a good 12 hours ride, the ride there was bearable. I was conked out majority of the time, so the next moment i know, we were already in Penang haha. See, its useful to possess pig characteristics sometimes ok.
We had trainings at the race site on day 1 and day 2. Day 3 was the race. The race site's scenery was spectacular. Its actually a pretty big dam thats high up on a hill, and while rowing, we saw little puffs of white clouds passing by the surrounding trees and plantations. If only kallang is half as beautiful! Weather wise, its more or less like Singapore. Rain and shine, rain and shine, though i thought it was colder there.
Anyway, on the 1st day, some of us behaved like we are starving to bones. After training we had free time so the entire team went to this big ass shopping mall for dinner. So the starved-to-bones club ate at this superb nice restaurant called Nando's(a much nicer version of Kenny Rogers), then we had 2nd round at Sakae Sushi. The sushi is freaking cheap as compared to local ones! After that we head to Anderson's ice cream, followed by auntie anne's and lastly secret recipe's cakes!! The price is exactly the same as Singapore except that the currency is in Ringgit, so everything is half price to us. ahah we practically ate like there's no tomorrow and i swear i gained at least 1 kg that night. Very bad, very sinful hehe.
Yea so apart from our victory during the race, pigging out on day 1 is the highlight of the trip. And dont get me started on what we ate AFTER our race at their local food stalls. Its 5 times more calories, 5 times more sinful. We ate things like penang laksa, cockles, oyster egg, rojak, satay, chendol, char kuay tiao etc etc. The food there are damn yummy! -drools-
Now that im blogging about all that i've eaten, i think i shall go for a long distance run tomorrow, just to burn off the calories. =(
My wonderful roomies!! Me, Yolanda and Alicia. Check out the background. Thats our race site.
Nice scenery and nice company.
I love to cam whore. Even in the midst of trainings!
After we came in first for the heats in our mix event.
The breathtaking view from my hotel room. Love it man.
The inverted xmas tree decoration at the big ass shopping mall. Its so niceee!
You have no idea how lame the DB peeps can get. I dont know what terence(the guy in white) was trying to do man, seriously.
Presenting to you....the singing club!
And....The nerdys! Check out who are the odd ones out.
This shot nearly cost us $20,000.00. Apparently all 50+ of us squeezed into the dragonboat during the shot and it goes "ONE....TWO...THREE. CRACKKKK~" The boat cracked into two. All of us jumped out, take our stuff and escape to our bus. Thankfully the organiser didnt mention anything about us paying. If not each of us have to fork out 300 bucks! pheww..
Cuz we are the champions. =)
